Make Music in New York comes to Jackson Heights.
Our city’s free music festival comes to Diversity Plaza in celebration of the first day of summer.
The show runs from 1 – 6 p.m., featuring music from around the world and around our city – what’s more appropriate for a street called Diversity Plaza?
Stop by, stay as long as you want, and give dad a musical treat on Father’s Day. The Diversity Plaza event is the biggest of several Make Music Events in Jackson Heights. All told, there are 1,200 MMNY events around the city.
Sunday’s Diversity Park lineup:
* 1-2 p.m. J.H. Community Chorus: American choral music with accompanied by piano, bass and drums
* 2-3 p.m. Los Hijos del la Gran Puna: Andean music ensemble
* 3-4 p.m. SA: Fusion of Indian, jazz, R&B and hip hop
* 4-5 p.m. The URBAN Street Band: Rockin the Classics
* 5- 6 p.m. AC Haley: Jazz vocalist and electric bass.
Diversity Plaza is locagted at 37th Road, between 73th and 74th Streets.
The plaza gets a makeover starting next year, which will turn it into a full-fledged NYC Pedestrian Plaza making it a fitting Gateway to Jackson Heights. And while you are enjoying the music, please buy food or drink from local merchants so they better understand the benefits of the plaza to them.
Sponsored by the Jackson Heights Beautification Group in Partnership with Friends of Diversity Plaza.
