The 8th Annual Queens World Film Festival (QWFF) returns to the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios from March 15-25, 2018. With 179 exciting, topical, bold and entertaining Indie films representing 36 nations.
Movies are grouped into blocks of under 2 hours based on a theme. Tickets are $15, for each block. On March 16, there will be a special kids block which will include movies from students at PS 69.
This year’s submissions increased by 43% and programmers screened 611 films from across the globe—including Spain, Argentina, Canada, German, Iran, Japan, Switzerland, Ireland, France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Ghana, Greece, India, Iran, Ireland, Dominican Republic, Italy, Australia, Nepal, Netherlands, Turkey, UK and the US – with 30 submissions from Queens! QWFF has also expanded their partnership with IndieCollect to include two “Spirit of Queens” events for the 2018 honorees Jan Oxenberg and Vincent Gagliostro, along with screenings of both filmmakers’ memorable works.
Opening Night is Thursday, March 15 at MoMI, doors open at 7pm for networking and photo ops with an 8pm curtain for a program of incredible short films from Germany, New Jersey, Australia and Astoria that start with a bang and end with a bug and are certain to give the audience a taste of the excitement to come during the remaining 10 days of the festival.
