Option for integration: How Parents Can Make a Difference

Monday, May 7th, Dr. Allison Roda, (Molloy College) will present her research on a gentrifying neighborhood in New York City. She finds that in the absence of city policy for integration, parent organizers can have a transformative effect toward building more diverse and high-quality public schools.  In addition, participants will look at demographic data of the schools Jackson Heights residents attend, and discuss policy proposal recommendations that could pave the way for the systemic integration of public schools.
