JHBG selected by OpenPlans for community mapping project

OpenPlans developed Shareabouts, an online mapping tool to gather crowd sourced public input in a social and engaging process. Using Shareabouts, people can drop a pin on a map to provide ideas, suggestions, and comments for planning and design issues. It complements and extends the reach of an existing or future project by collecting input from the people who know the city best. As a mobile-friendly application, Shareabouts makes it easy to add input on the go.

The Jackson Heights Beautification Group is collecting input about local problems and ideas for new projects in the neighborhood, at jacksonheights.shareabouts.org.

Residents can map tree care and green spaces opportunities, transportation needs, places for sitting, traffic sites, volunteer opportunities, ideas for art projects and more.

Historic buildings in Louisville KY, with University of Louisville’s Urban Design Studio and City Collaborative.

Social spaces in Cambridge MA, with Kendall Innovation.

Unsafe intersections in Brooklyn NY, with Make Lafayette Avenue Safer.

Biking to transit in Philadelphia PA, with The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia in partnership with SEPTANJ TransitPATCO, and DVRPC.
