Donate for Sandy Relief!

Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Jackson Heights Beautification Group is coordinating these relief activities with local groups, including #OccupySandy. Special thanks to the JHSCRAPS, Jackson Heights Green Alliance, Make the Road New York, and Jackson Heights Families.

UPDATED LIST OF DONATIONS NEEDED FOR SUNDAY:

We collected a lot of clothes today, Saturday, November 3rd,
so for tomorrow we need to focus on the most essential:

  • Flashlights and candles
  • Batteries – particularly C’s and D’s
  • Can openers
  • Thermals
  • Heavy sweaters
  • Jackets
  • Socks
  • Underwear
  • and anything for the winter!

We need volunteers to sort, load and vans to distribute the donated items to collection hubs in the neighborhood. Please contact us at info@jhbg.org

On Saturday, November 3rd we filled TWO VANS of donated items. Neighbors and friends pitched in to help others around New York. Our friends at Make the Road filled TWO ROOMS with food, clothes, toys, toiletries, etc.

  • Batteries (AA, AAA, D) flashlights

For the Rockaways

 

  • Propane grille or camping style oven
  • Plates, cups, forks, bowls, spoons, etc
  • Blankets, jackets, gloves, hats, warm clothes
  • Cleaning supplies – buckets, squeegees, mops, bleach
  • Masks, gloves for cleaning
